If you’ve ever been like a snowball from the highest peak, starting out big, as you’d won something precious.
From the peak…you’ve started to come down. You were high as a kite. Withdrawal is setting in, and your hungry.
Unfortunately for you, the only thing that will feed the hunger, is a ginormous dream come true sandwich. Bananas don’t cut it. Too good to be true…..USUALLY is. hmm.
On the way down the slope of win, your snowball shot off a cliff, and landed smack dab on a big rock. That’s the yard sale folks.
In a cloud of powder, ice crystals flying, everything’s for sale, or free.
Skiers know it well, and helped to make it a Urban Dictionary entry. They find sunglasses, then see a glove, out in their peripheral, sunlight winks off a half sunk pole. Then the shadow of something bigger, appears wrecked in the snow. Tangled in a lump. A low moan beckons the curious.
Then the character stands up. Stretches. Pops their neck. Blood gathers at the ground around their . shaking feet. As shock sets in, the figure tips over. Ass over teakettle, the yard sale continues down the cliff face.
Telling perfect strangers too follow along behind you, to pick up the value trail you drop, on your way to potentially impale yourself, on the bottom of the pit trap.
Paul Simon gave the reason I hesitate, to write, “losing love is like a window in your heart, everybody sees your blown apart, everybody sees the wind blow, I’m going to Graceland”.
High hope is like a bad dog, on a short leash. It’s likely to turn around and bite the shit out of your strongest hand, tearing your thumb off. Leaving you helpless, and hopelessly disappointed.
The best medicine I’ve found for this feeling is her, and:
“Enthusiasm is followed by disappointment and even depression, and then by renewed enthusiasm.
“I began to realise how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good, either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”
